Rita Margaret NewtonSMITH(Walbottle) Peacefully on 1st September 2026 aged 97 years. Beloved wife to the late James, devoted mam to Ian and Melanie, much loved mother-in-law to Pete and the late Stephanie, treasured Grandma to Emma, Christopher and Cameron, cherished Nan to Ian, Mark and Nicola. Rita was also special Great-Nan to Layla and friend of many. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Family and friends please meet for Rita's funeral service on Wednesday 16th September at 2:15 pm at the West Road Crematorium. Family flowers only please. Donations in lieu will be received on the day with proceeds going to The Alzheimer's Society. A donation box will be available at the crematorium.
