AlbertWYERMr Patrick Albert Wyer, of Friar Court, Accrington, died on Tuesday, January 25, aged 79. Back in the 1970s, Albert worked at Faircloughs in Huncoat as a concrete gangerman. He then had a change of career, taking up the job of steward at Central W.M.C. Accrington, before moving onto The New Brewery Pub, Mawdsley Street, Accrington, where he remained for several years. He then moved onto The Regent Pub in Haslingden for a further three/four years, before taking up relief bar work at many pubs in the Accrington area. He was extremely well known and respected in the licensed trade, and would always be stopped by people to engage in conversation. He was proud of his Irish roots, having moved here from his native Kilbeggan, County Westmeath, Ireland. Albert leaves his children, Maria, Patrick, Albert, and Michael, and his daughter-in-law Toni. He was also a much loved grandad and great-grandad. Albert was also the brother of Betty, May, Christina, and the late JJ Wyer. A Requiem Mass at St Joseph’s RC Church on Monday, February 7 at 10.30am will be followed at 11.30am at Accrington Cemetery.
