For some reason, I just decided to go the CV site by chance – must have been a second sense. Was really saddened to hear of Peters death. I still remember the day I stayed late after school in year 1 to hear the brass band rehearse, and Peter introduced me to a whole new world. Being in the band under Peter was a changing point in my life, and what came from it shaped my whole career. I was aware of his gigs playing a Vox continental in dance and lounge bands, and by year 4 I was copying him, alongside another band member – Richard Furlong – gigging at clubs and parties. This baptism of fire led to all the work I did as a session keyboard player in the 80’s and 90’s then as a composer for TV and film. Like most musicians careers there’s usually a few people/defining moments that you can pinpoint that changed the course of your career. I can pinpoint 4 people. Peter was the first. Wherever you are I thank you for your heart and your passion, and being a leading light in my childhood,
Simon Etchell
