DerekWOLSTENHOLMEOn Tuesday, August 17, peacefully at home with his daughters, Derek Wolstenholme passed away, aged 87. Recently of Henley House, Accrington, he had previously lived in Baxenden where he was a well-known figure in The Dog and Partridge and Conservative Club. Husband of the late Jean Wolstenholme, father of Kathryn and Carol, grandfather of Rachel, Nicholas, Helen and Sam, elder brother of Peter and the late Raymond and Leslie. He attended Peel Park and Accrington Grammar schools followed by Bangor University, where he read Chemistry. He was a member of St James’ Church PCC and bell ringers, and was a Scout leader. He enjoyed ballroom dancing, snooker, playing bridge and more recently going on cruises. The funeral will be held at St James’ Church, Accrington at 1.30pm on Friday, August 27, followed by a short committal at Accrington Cemetery. Friends are invited to join the family afterwards at The Dog and Partridge, Baxenden. Family flowers only please, however donations can be made in Derek’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Society.
