VeraWILCOCKMrs Vera Wilcock (nee Jones), of Accrington, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 21 aged 89, at Henley House Care Home. She was beloved wife of the late Kenneth Wilcock. She was the much loved and treasured mum of sons Timothy and Warren. Grandma to Kirsty, Lyndsay, Paul and Graeme. Mother-in-law to Sandra and Elaine. She also had five great-grandchildren. Vera started working life as a Auxiliary nurse at Accrington Victoria Hospital before moving on to be an old person’s warden. Vera also worked at Pierces furniture makers for several years as a sewer, where she made many good friends. From a young age Vera loved to sing and dance and was a member of Accrington Amateurs and Bel-canto Theatre group. She was a lifelong member of Cambridge Street Methodist Church and an active member of the ladies Regnal league there for over 50 years, and later in life attended Spring Hill Methodist Church. Vera loved crown green bowling and played for the Globe bowling club with her late husband Ken. The funeral at Accrington Crematorium will be on Friday, March 5 at 11am.
