John LawrenceWATTSof Burgess Hill, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Friday, 27th April, 2018. John was born in Overton, on 24th April, 1923, the son of the late Jack and Lily Watts. John proudly served his country in the Royal Navy during WWII, serving on Motor Gun Boats in the Mediterranean. He earned his degree in Accounting and served as Managing Director at General Automation for many years. After leaving GA John changed his career and along with his wife (Pamela) established their family home 'Rookwood' as a Residential Home to help care for the elderly. He loved taking photos and creating albums of his family and special events. He had a love for history, classical music and solving crossword puzzles, but most of all... he loved his family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son Jonathan de Lacey. John is survived by his loving wife of 50 years Pamela (de Lacey) Watts. He is also survived by his four loving children, Janet Maggs and her partner Liz of East Longmeadow, Massachusetts, Jane de Lacey of Brighton, Peter and his wife Liz of Chippenham, Stephen and his partner Mandy of Burgess Hill, his grandchildren, Timothy, Rebecca, Edward, Thomas, Christopher, Matthew, Alexandra and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday 3rd May at 1:30p.m. at Holy Trinity Church in Cuckfield, with the burial immediately following. The family would also like to thank Elaine for her compassionate care and kindness in John's final years and days.
