MariaTWIGGOn Sunday, February 13, in the Royal Blackburn Hospital, Maria Twigg, aged 92, of Turfcote Nursing Home and formerly Monk Street, Accrington, passed away. Maria moved from Austria and married her late husband John (Jack), who passed in July 2005. She had very fond memories of her birthplace and visited her family a number of times. Before retiring, Maria worked as a cleaner at Accrington Grammar School and built many friendships in the town she spent her life in. She was a loving mother to her late son David, who passed in August 1994. Maria leaves behind her daughter-in-law Lynda and grandson Jonathan, who she adored. Maria was a much loved grandma, who had a special relationship with Jonathan and wife Stephanie; she was able to meet her three great-grandchildren Ralphie, Raea and Harper. She will be greatly missed by her family. A service to celebrate Maria’s life will be led by Neil Overton, at Accrington Crematorium, on Wednesday, March 2, at 2.20pm. Flowers welcome.
