The obituary notice of Reverend Richard 'John' TONKIN

If I have the right man, John was my Sunday School teacher at Trinity Church. Loughborough. He worked with my father at Brush Electrical. He later trained for ministry and, although my family move away, we kept in touch. Later he served at the Church in Keynsham, Bristol. My parents, Frank & Evelyn Denslow, stood proxy for the Godparents of one of their children. Living near Bristol, we're in closer touch & John introduced me to Lee Abbey Youth Camp in 1963. This place has remained a big part of my life ever since.
Rest in Peace, John. I shall remain forever grateful for your influence in my Chritian journey. Jenny Carter, née Denslow

The last time we spoke, on the phone last January, he remarked in passing "I've had a wonderful life!" He spent his life in service to others; there's a lesson in there somewhere!

I was saddened to hear of the death of Revd Canon John Tonkin who I only met as the parent of his children who attended Beauchamp College. I particularly remember Ruth from many years ago. I send the family my sincere condolences.

A true man of God.

Sending deepest condolences to all the family. Reverend John Tonkin married myself and husband Nick in 1990 at Holy Apostles. A beautiful service from a lovely man I still to this day have the picture of the Hand Glider and remember word for word regarding the picture.
