Ivor BibbyTHOMPSONIvor Thompson, 83, of First Avenue Accrington, passed away on 23 February, peacefully, at home. He leaves his wife of 56 years, Anne, children Christopher and Jane, their partners Sarah and Andrew, and grandchildren Claire and Adam. Ivor was a butcher by trade working in his family business on Norfolk Street, Accrington for many years. He was an accomplished sportsman playing local league football, cricket, and snooker but he will be best remembered in local sporting circles for his golfing prowess. A scratch golfer, he was a member of Rishton, Clitheroe and finally Wilpshire Golf Club where he was Club Champion 10 times, and twice winner of the Wilpshire Trophy. He represented Lancashire at all age levels and was a stalwart of the ELGA Scratch Team. Ivor loved Accrington Stanley being a life season ticket holder, and shareholder. He watched them as a boy at Peel Park, and was a fixture at the Wham Stadium until his illness made it impossible for him to attend. He will be missed by many.
