Jim always had a big smile when I met him , always a dear family friend . I remember being a young child visiting my aunti Ivy we would go outside into the garden and Jim's head would pop up over the hedges and greet us with that huge smile . Later years when I found the hospitality of the fox and hounds calling me I would join Jim and Alan and friends for a few cheeky ones. Jim you were a wonderful man and will be missed by so many . Parkstone Avenue has lost a legend.

Uncle Jim. It’s Ritchie here. I have so many fond memories of my childhood when you used to come to Crofton in your van visiting us when my mum Josie took us to see nana Nellie and grandad Joe. What’s stuck in my mind is you taking us in your van to see the trains and always laughing and playing games. You were an amazing person and always happy and positive. Heaven has gained a shining star 🌟 I bet your sat up there watching all the footy! Say hello to Margaret, Nelly and Joe. Until we meet again Jim! Will always remember you. Ritchie

Jim, for years, your garden was a sanctuary of fruit and veg and vibrant colors. You nurtured the soil with a green thumb and a gentle touch, finding peace in the simple rhythm of the seasons.
But it was that final, recent chapter that felt most like you—deciding, after all this time, to grow sweetcorn (with Julie's encouragement). It was a testament to your faith and hope, trying something new and watching those tall, statuesque stalks reach for the sun. In funerary tradition, corn represents rebirth and the cyclical nature of life; to us, your corn was a final gift of sweetness and abundance.
You've put away your tools now, but the love you planted will continue to flourish in our hearts.
Rest in peace my friend, until the next season x
