IanTAYLORof Weddington. Died peacefully at home on 21st May 2022 aged 86. Beloved Husband of Margaret, wonderful Father to Darren and Adrian and much-loved Father-in-Law to Kate and Milk. Uncle Ian to his family and a great friend to many others. Ian Taylor was born in South Shields but moved to Weddington at a very young age and was very proud to say Nuneaton was where he was from. One of his earliest memories was that of the town being bombed during the war, but after the war he grew up playing in the fields and farms of Weddington, helping to deliver milk for a few pennies and scrumping apples on the way. He served in the merchant navy and was then apprenticed to Alfred Herbert in Coventry. He went on to work at Massey Ferguson where he made many friends, but will be best remembered as working at the tennis ball factory in Attleborough where a generation of workers were told they weren't on their daddy's yacht. Ian was well travelled and visited many countries, even living in Hong Kong for a few years after the tennis ball factory was sold. He had a particular fondness for Australia and New Zealand, although he would cheer particularly loudly if the English cricket team beat either of them. Ian was an excellent gardener and allotment holder and kept his award-winning plot in Weddington until ill health forced him to hand it over a couple of years ago. His garden remained impeccable right up until his death. Funeral service to take place at the Heart of England Crematorium on Thursday 30th June at 11.45am. All welcome but by Ian's specific request no sombre clothes, please. This is to be a celebration of a life well-lived. Family flowers only please but donations if desired to Cancer Research may be sent c/o Devall & Son Funeral Directors or made online via www.devallandson.com.
