Frances MildredSWEENEYIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mildred on Monday, April 15, aged 85 years. Daughter of the late Harold and Margaret Sweeney, auntie to Robert, the late Lynne, Susan, the late Noel, Ashleigh, Joseph, Stephanie, Paul, Ben and Matthew. Mildred was a very dear friend to many. A reception into church for Mildred will take place on Wednesday, May 1 at St Mary’s Church, Oswaldtwistle at 20.30pm. The funeral service will take place on Thursday, May 2 at St Mary’s Church, Oswaldtwistle at 10.15am followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium at 11.40am. The family have requested family flowers only, donations are being received to the Cancer Research UK. Funeral directors: Wolstenholme Funeral Directors, Willows Lane, Accrington, BB5 0RT, 01254 232604.

It has been a joy and a privilege to have had Mildred as a close friend and neighbour for the last 54 years.
What a huge void she leaves in my life alongside all the memories of happy times and troubles shared over the years.
Mildred was a true friend and mentor to so many people & am sure we shall all remember her quick wit, sense of humour and her sincere caring, compassionate nature.
My late husband believed that no one really dies while there are still people alive who remember you and hold you in their hearts.
Well, my friend, if that really is the case you will still be around for a long time !
