David JamesSTANLEYAged 75 of Collins Drive, Baxenden, sadly passed away on June 27. The beloved husband of Pauline, much loved father to Dawn and grandfather to Liam and Ella, including stepson Nicholas, his wife Nicola and their daughter Elizabeth. David was born in Clayton-le-Moors, the son of Jane and Bill, attended All Saints Primary School in Clayton and later St. Christopher’s in Accrington. After living in Clayton, he lived much of his younger life in the Lodge Street area of Accrington. His working life started at E J Riley, firstly making wooden bowls for crown green bowling and then moving on to making snooker tables. He travelled to various venues to install the snooker tables, meeting many of the professional players. He ended his working life at Envair UK in Helmshore as a driver/ fitter going to different sites installing health and safety cabinets. Ill health forced him to retire at the age of 60. David married his first wife the late Jean in 1968 and they had daughter Dawn. He later married Pauline in 1988. For some years David was a member of the Accrington Cine Club. He enjoyed watching television, sport in particular. David was a passionate life long Accrington Stanley supporter and was a member of the Accrington Stanley Supporters Club. He was a season ticket holder and also attended many away games in the past. In his earlier years he was a committed volunteer, helping with groundworks and behind the bar. He had a passion for pool, playing in many Accrington teams. When he moved to Baxenden he enjoyed playing in the local pool team for the ‘Dog and Partridge’ and was also a proud member of the ‘Over 40’s’ pool team run by the ‘Bay Horse’. He enjoyed holidays with family and friends, home or abroad. Bulgaria being the last one abroad with Dawn and family. His funeral will be held on Friday, July 14 at 1.40pm at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only, but donations to East Lancashire Hospice will be gratefully received in memory of David. c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
