Ian StuartSIMPSONIt is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ian Stuart Simpson on Thursday 7th May 2026, following a fall from which he didn't recover. He was 92 years old.
A proud Scotsman, Ian moved from Kent at an early age to Dumbarton, Scotland, where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1957 and became a lifelong member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland - an achievement he held with great pride. He later relocated with his young family to Derby, where he enjoyed a long and distinguished career at Rolls-Royce, retiring in the early 1990s.
In retirement, Ian and his beloved wife Ena travelled extensively. He was passionate about gardening, tennis, and bowls, and cherished every moment spent with his four wonderful grandchildren.
Ian is survived by his two sons, Stuart and Scott, and will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday 14th July 2026 at 11.30am at Markeaton Crematorium (round chapel).
