A few decades ago, at Petrocarbon (now Costain) David and I worked together on 2 or 3 challenging projects and his patience and tenacity, and his sense of humour made him a joy to work with.
He is and will always be one of the best colleagues I had the pleasure of knowing.

Many of Dave's former colleagues from Jacobs and Fluor have left messages on Linked in. This is a message from Dave Monaghan : I first met Dave in 1st year high school, age 11. There will be others from the same time attending on Monday. We both studied chemical engineering at UMIST, we did not realise until the 1st day that we were at the same uni. We started our 1st job at mcdermott engineering in London September 1978, again unknown to each other until the 1st day. Dave didn't stay in London long as he missed Louse who at this point was at Chester law school. He worked on many big projects in lead roles and always enjoyed his work. But family and friends were more important. He always talked with great pride about his children. He always tried to keep fit and healthy. He enjoyed tennis and cycling. He enjoyed holidays and travel. I talked to him recently and despite everything he retained a positive outlook. I recall a business trip I took with Dave to Astana. Kazakhstan. We were there for a KO meeting but it was a client of our Holland office and the client was expecting a final report. It was tricky to say the least, the client was not happy and let us know this, they shouted at us in Russian. Dave always enjoyed travelling with work, but this trip was particularly memorable. I am sure there will be many from work there on Monday. Dave has been taken too soon and will be missed. Rest in Peace Sos
