KevinRYDERBeloved husband, father and grandfather, Kevin Ryder passed away peacefully at the age of 89 on Monday, January 8 surrounded by close family members at his home in Waddington, Lancashire following a short illness. Kevin was born in Accrington in December 1934, attending St. Oswald’s School, Accrington and St. Mary’s College, Blackburn from 1945 to 1952. He did National Service at RAF Turnhill, in Shropshire after which he worked in the Accounts office at Thwaites Brewery, Blackburn. He trained as a teacher at Chorley College of Education and taught at Holy Family School and Mount Carmel School, Accrington from the late 1960s to his retirement in the 1990s teaching History and Physical Education. Kevin loved sport and was a talented sportsman, playing cricket for Church and Oswaldtwistle and Accrington Cricket Clubs in the East Lancashire league from the 1950s. He also played football and was a Football Association referee. Later in life he was captain and member of the bowling team at Waddington Club from the 1980s. Kevin is survived by his wife Mary, daughters Anne and Julie and six grandchildren, Daniel, Francesca, Oliver, Benjamin, Emily and Isabella and son-in-law Michael. Kevin’s life will be celebrated with a Requiem Mass at St. Michael and St. John’s Catholic Church, Lowergate, Clitheroe, BB7 1AG on Monday, January 29 at 11am followed by the burial at Clitheroe Cemetery.
