Joe was our neighbour, but he was so much more than that he was our family. For over twenty years, Joe was a constant presence in our lives, always kind, always generous, and always ready to help anyone who needed it. He gave his time, his care, and his love freely, never expecting anything in return.
He had a quiet way of looking after people. Whether it was advice on decorating, a cup of tea and a long chat, or simply being there when you needed him, Joe made life feel warmer and safer just by being himself. His generosity was endless and thoughtful, small acts that meant so much.
The children adored him. He was a grandad to them in every way that mattered. From laughter shared over the fence to the unforgettable “security Easter Bunny” who somehow always left eggs in the garden, Joe filled their childhood with joy. There was the secret £10 pressed into their hands for an ice cream when we went on holiday, little gifts waiting when we returned, and waves as we left the driveway moments of love that will stay with them forever.
Our home was full of laughter because of Joe. We will always smile at the memory of the cat climbing in through the campervan sunroof, the stories Joe loved to tell, and the everyday rituals that made life feel special.
Our girls are heartbroken. Ellie will miss your chats over the hedge on the way home from school so much. We will never forget Abbie going to see you in her graduation gown before her ceremony, and you hugging her with a little tear in your eye. That moment says everything about the love you shared.
Thank you, Joe, for all the love, care, and kindness you gave us over the last twenty years. We will be a little lost without you next door. I am so deeply thankful that you and Liz were part of our journey.
Now at peace and reunited with your wonderful wife, Liz.
Loved always, and forever.
