BerylRUSHTONof Hambledon Mill Park, Accrington sadly passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 7, at the Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 78. She was the daughter of the late Jack and Ellen Crowther and sister to Alan. On leaving school Beryl started work in the textile department of a local Blackburn mill. During the following years she passed her City & Guilds in textile design and became a fully-fledged textile designer. Later, in her twenties, she joined Norweb in their Blackburn showroom and became a successful sales advisor. After marriage, Beryl became a full-time housewife and mother and gave birth to three boys. However, this did not deter her doing voluntary youth work for many years as secretary to St Mary’s Oswaldtwistle Youth Club. She also managed to find time to join St Mary’s Operatic Society and appeared in several shows in the chorus. A loving mother to Paul, Nicholas and the late Mark, Beryl was a devoted Grandma to Macy and dear friend to Jessie. She will be sadly missed. A celebration of life service will be held at 10am on Friday, July 22, at Rishton Methodist Church led by Minister Geoff Hays, followed by burial at the new Great Harwood Cemetery on Lee Lane. Beryl has requested that we all wear something bright and not black as she wants us to celebrate her life and good times that she had. Family flowers only please, however donations, if desired, requested for Hyndburn Stray Dogs or Rishton Methodist Church, c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
