AnneROBINSONAnne Robinson, of Oswaldtwistle, passed away on June 5, aged 87 years.
Anne was born in Accrington. She lived with her parents in their bakery shop in Avenue Parade (now the Post Office)
during the Second World War, before moving to Birkett Road and then Oakleigh Creamery on Whalley Road.
When she was 16, Anne met her husband-to-be, Gordon and they married in 1959.
They went on to have four children, Jane, Digby, Jo and Max.
Anne and Gordon were both leading lights in the local amateur dramatic scene. They were involved with Accrington Arts Club and Accrington Amateurs both on stage and off and later founded the Pathfinders Amateur Theatre Company.
Anne was a talented soprano, starring in many performances. She was also a talented seamstress, leading a
team of sewers designing and making many theatrical costumes for the Pathfinders.
Anne worked alongside her husband as office manager at Gordon Robinson & Partners in Dutton Street until
Gordon died in 1993 and the business was sold. She also ran Rocklea Care home with Gordon. In her later years, Anne spent many happy hours singing with local choirs and groups.
She was an enthusiastic member of the choir at St Paul’s in Oswaldtwistle, where she moved to after Gordon died to be nearer to her son Max.
Anne will be greatly missed by her children, her ‘in-laws’ - John, Julia, Richard and Louise, her grandchildren - Martin,
Tom, Fraser, George, Kate, Zac and Eliza and her great-granddaughters - Ivy, Alice and Alma.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, July 11, at 2.20pm at Accrington Crematorium.
All attending are asked to wear a splash of yellow, Anne’s favourite colour.
No black ties please.
