Colin VictorREDMAYNEColin Redmayne, of Kings Road died peacefully on November 21 after a short illness, aged 84 years. He was the only son of Vic and Alice Redmayne. Colin was born on April 15, 1938 and lived his whole life in the family house. He attended Peel Park Primary School and Hyndburn Secondary, on leaving school he trained as an apprentice TV engineer at Relayvision in Accrington, where he worked until he took early retirement. He was a very active radio amateur and a member of the North West Repeater Club, meeting at the Globe Club in Bullough Park once a month. Colin remained in contact with fellow radio amateurs both in person and ‘over the air’ until his death. Colin regularly caught up with former colleagues at dinners and was a member of the local history society. He had a great knowledge of local history and geography and loved to share this with friends and family. Maps were his passion, along with classical music. Colin was a familiar figure around Accrington as he suffered from Ankylosing Spondylitis, which left him very bent for most of his life. He never complained about it and just got on with his life. He is survived by his sister Alison and nephews Paul and Alistair. Colin’s funeral will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Wednesday, December 7 at 11.40am, conducted by Gemma Rooke. Donations in lieu of flowers to Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington for Cancer Research UK.
