BrianRAYNERMr Brian Rayner passed away peacefully with his beloved son Paul at his side at Nelson Manor on Tuesday, May 4. Brian was 87 years old and although originally born in Hartlepool he lived in Acre and Baxenden for over 50 years. Brian was once landlord of the Great Tree Pub in Rising at Acre and has owned a variety of local businesses including a coal merchants. He was the youngest and last surviving child of William and Isabella Rayner, and had nine other siblings. Brian was a proud and hardworking man, only fully retiring from the family business in the last couple of years due to ill health. He leaves his cherished son Paul and his partner Gill, and his loving friend of many years, Irene and her family - Maria and Pete. A celebration of Brian’s life will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Monday, May 17, followed by interment at Dill Hall Lane Cemetery. Due to COVID restrictions, numbers allowed at the service and interment are limited; regrettably attendance will be with prior agreement from family and/or the funeral director Wolstenholme, Willows Lane, Accrington.
