JohnPYRDAMr John Anthony Pyrda, of Accrington, sadly passed away in hospital in Tenerife, after a battle, bravely fought with dignity, on Tuesday, January 18, aged 71. John attended St Anne’s RC Primary School, Accrington and St Mary’s College, Blackburn. He worked at William Blythe Ltd and Howard & Bullough Ltd before joining the Army. Latterly he worked for E. Slinger & Sons Ltd, Gt Harwood Food Products, Colebrand Group and finally Gaskill Textiles Ltd from where he retired because of ill health. He enjoyed playing snooker, pool, fishing, gardening and loved a day out at the horse races. Music was one of his passions - especially heavy rock, as well as watching wildlife and World War 2 documentaries. He loved to socialise with his friends in Bold Street WMC, Sydney Street Club, Canine Club and Uncle Jack’s Pub in Lower Darwen. John especially looked forward to his holidays abroad in Tenerife, Crete and also made two visits to Poland to be reunited with his father’s family. John was the dearly loved partner and soul mate of Liz and a good friend to her sons Craig and Duncan. Also a loving step-grandad to Logan and good friend to many. His funeral will be held at 3pm on Friday, February 11 at Accrington Crematorium Chapel, conducted by Neil Overton.
