Uncle John (Duke)

Wonderful memories of a loving and much loved uncle. He was also a very loving son and brother who looked and cared for Grandma until she died. One of my favourite memories when were kids was when he came for tea most Saturdays and we would carefully unwrap a chocolate biscuit (a Zoom!) remove the biscuit, put the wrapper back together carefully and place back on the plate. He would always take the "empty" biscuit and then roar with laughter that he'd been tricked again. It was a long time before we realised that he knew which was the empty wrapper all the time and he'd been playing along with the joke! He also had a very witty sense of humour. I have kept his last few texts to me as he always managed to return my "amusing" texts with a far cleverer response!

I hope you realised how much you were loved J-boy and I'm so glad I got to see you last week before you left us. Sweet Dreams. Margaret X
