JohnPAYNEJohn passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his loving family, on Thursday, 18th June 2026, aged 81 years. Born in West Bromwich, John moved to Prestatyn with his family following the relocation of the family business Ega Tube to St Asaph in 1963. John then lived in Colwyn Bay for 49 years before moving latterly to Deganwy Quay.
John was the loving husband of Mary, proud father of Phil and Nic and their partners Bethany and Kevin, a devoted Grandpa to Bella, Will, Gabriella, Tomas, Kayla and Sophie and a cherished brother to Eric and Joy. John will be greatly missed by his family, friends, colleagues, business associates and anyone who knew him.
John was a devoted Christian with an enormous faith that gave him the strength to face the brain tumour diagnosis in 2025 without fear, but in the knowledge that he was in the Lords safe hands. John had a love of watching all sports, particularly football and motorsports and a passion for boats and spreadsheets. John, a Chartered Accountant, was a Trustee for many organisations and dedicated his life to helping others and furthering the work of the Lord amongst schools and the local community.
A Funeral Service for John will take place on Monday, 6th July 2026 at 12.30pm at St John's Uniting Church, Pwllycrochan Avenue, Colwyn Bay followed by a private interment at Llanrhos Lawn Cemetery.
If you wish to make a donation in memory of John, they will be gratefully accepted towards Langham Arts Trust. An organisation John was passionate about particularly the work with children.
