SheilaO'CONNORSheila passed away on Thursday, July 22, aged 87, surrounded by her loving family, at Hope House Care Home. Sheila had been in poor health for quite a few years, but in the last few weeks she had deteriorated. She was married to Tony for 49 years and they always pulled together. Mother of the late Dawn, John and Denise, and doting nana of the late Sam, Akram, and Aryam, who could always rely on and confide in her, also Samir, a great son-in-law who she thought the world of. Sheila worked at Burco as an inspector in the metal spinning department where she inspected non-stick pans and burco boilers coming from Lathes of the metal spinners. She was a very pleasant lass and very well thought of. Tony was a metal spinner there, and Sheila used to inspect his work; this led to marriage and a very happy life together. Sheila was very good hearted; we once had a little off licence, I followed this little boy who we saw taking a bottle of pop and brought him back to the shop. Sheila recognised the little lad as someone she knew and his mother, who was very poorly. So Sheila sent him home with a carrier bag full of pop, crisps, and sweets; that’s just how she was. Happy, kind, and friendly. We would like to thank Hope House for the care they gave to Sheila. The lasses and lads were second to none in their duties, God bless them all. Special thanks to Dr Suhail, Dr Duffy and more recently Dr Atkinson, and also all the lads and lasses that cared for her when she was at home from Guardian. Not forgetting Father Pat for the visits and communion; you made her day. God bless and kiss from Sheila. The funeral will be on Wednesday, August 4 with a Requiem Mass at St Mary’s RC Church, Clayton-le-Moors at 10.15am, followed by Accrington Cemetery at 11.40am. Family flowers only please; donations if desired to East Lancs Hospice. Funeral director: Hyndburn Funeral & Monumental Services, Accrington.
