I am a firm believer in "chosen family" and that is exactly what Auntie Jean is. She is family.
We share no bloodline yet she has been the best Auntie anybody could wish for. A friend who became a sister to my mother, an Auntie to me from the day I was born, a Great Aunt to my own daughter, with emphasis always placed on the GREAT.
I am grateful for the 48 years I've had her in my life, yet it still doesn't seem long enough. I am grateful that my own daughter got to experience the love of an Auntie, but I am equally sad that her beloved Great Auntie Jean will no longer be around to witness future milestones.
We will miss her so very much. The sound of her laugh, her smile, our inside jokes.
