My earliest memories of Auntie Jean are filled with happiness, generosity and little adventures. She would take me to the amateur pantomime every year, on day trips to the beach, and open days at farms.
One of my favourite memories was when I stayed with her and Uncle Roy in their caravan in the Peak District. I loved the many countryside walks we went on, often walking their beloved dog Rocky, and on a few occasions I even joined her on one of her geocaching walks.
She had a wonderfully bubbly personality that left a lasting impression on everyone around her. When she was truly enjoying herself, her voice would grow louder with excitement and laughter. She had a distinctive, giggly laugh and a bright, beaming smile.
Her home was always welcoming and both Auntie Jean and Uncle Roy could always put you at ease. Whenever we visited for dinner, she would cook jacket potatoes and lay out a buffet, ensuring there was more than enough for everyone. There always seemed to be an endless supply of ‘broken biscuits’ and of course many cups of tea.
Both Auntie Jean and Uncle Roy have played a significant role in my life, if it wasn’t for them my parents would have never met and I would not be here today. I’m extremely grateful for the kindness they have showed me throughout my life.
I will always miss Auntie Jean, there won’t ever be anyone like her, all who knew her will miss her deeply. Her warmth, laughter, and friendship will never be forgotten.
Love Anna
