HerbertMARSDENof Inwell House, Waterfoot passed away peacefully aged 97 on Monday 28th November. Herbert or Bert to all who knew him was born and raised in Crawshawbooth before being called up to fight for King and country in WWII. A veteran of the Normandy campaign in 1944 and the liberation of Berlin in 1945, Bert then returned home and started a family. Bert had a variety of jobs before ill health forced early retirement in 1978. Bert was an avid baker and gardener whose cakes and flowers were infamous with all who knew him. Bert was a man of firm Christian faith. He was a worshipper at his beloved St Anne's Church in Edgeside all of his life. His faith was of great comfort to him in any time of need. Bert leaves behind children Joan, Judy, Gill, Denise, Lee, Lindsay, Christian and Matthew along with many loved grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bert's funeral will take place on 21st December, 11am at St Anne's Church, Edgeside before a committal at Accrington Crematorium at 12:20pm.
