DoreenLOWEDoreen Lowe, aged 88, died peacefully at Nelson Manor Care Home on Saturday, May 8. Formerly of Whitewell Road and latterly Wellfield Care Home in Accrington. Doreen was a much loved mum of Alan, mother-in-law to Sharon and Nana to Matthew and Owen. She grew up in Bootle, Merseyside and in her younger years worked in office roles in Liverpool. In her spare time she enjoyed going on many camping trips in her role as a Guide leader. In the early 1970s she moved to Accrington to marry Ken. Caravanning holidays were a particular favourite time, and many happy memories were made on family trips all over the UK. She was very active and sociable and enjoyed meeting her groups of friends at Ladies Leisure, playing bingo at Cabin End and going on coach trips and holidays abroad. Her hobbies included playing bingo with her friends and scrabble with her family. Thank you to Nelson Manor for their excellent care in the final few months of her life. The majority of her final years were spent at Wellfield Care Home and the family would like to particularly thank Nesta and Kath for making those years special and enjoyable. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, May 26, at 9.40am at Accrington Crematorium, led by the Reverend Stephen Crook.
