Grandma Joan had a particular talent for savouring whatever was in front of her. A glass of wine, a bowl of strawberries and cream, a story about an eccentric family member, a visit from family. She took her time with everything and you always got the sense she was getting the absolute most out of the moment. That was true right up until the end. Even in her final weeks, she was intent on making the most of the time she had with the people she loved. That’s something that will always stay with me when I think of her. That, and her mischievous chuckle! Rest in peace, Grandma.
