Rodney MalvernLAWRENCERodney Malvern Lawrence, lovingly known as Rod, passed away peacefully at home on 11th May 2026, aged 79, with his family by his side after a short illness. Born on 2nd October 1946, Rod lived a full and varied life, filled with warmth, humour, and dedication to those he loved.
A much-loved and devoted husband to Christine, cherished dad to Julie, Michelle and Tina, and a proud granddad and great-granddad. Rod was a true family man who treasured time spent with his loved ones and friends.
Rod had a wide and interesting working life, including roles as a car mechanic, working in hosiery, driving dumper trucks on Jelson sites, and later as a salesman with Potters Carpets, where he truly thrived. He had a natural gift for conversation and found great satisfaction in helping people.
In his leisure time, Rod enjoyed following snooker and travelled widely, taking many memorable cruises, particularly around the Canary Islands and the Norwegian fjords.
A service to celebrate Rod's life will be held on Friday 5th June at 12:30pm at Loughborough Crematorium.
All are welcome to attend and honour his memory.
Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the RNLI.
Rod will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

My Dearest Dad
I loved you even before I saw you, your gentle loving voice talking to me as I grew inside mum’s tummy.
From the moment I was born you have always been my protector, my first teacher, my best friend and my rock! There has never been a safer place than in your arms!
The memories we’ve made and the laughter we’ve shared will remain in our hearts forever. To the world you was just a dad to me you were and always will be my world!
Sleep tight Dad.
Love you always.

Thank you, Dad, for being my Dad.

When I think of you, I see a lifetime of memories: laughter, adventures, kindness, and a man who was always there when he was needed.

You were my taxi driver, mechanic, rescuer, problem-solver and biggest supporter, but most importantly, you were simply Dad.

You stood beside me through every stage of my life and loved your family with all your heart. The memories we made together will stay with me forever.

Thank you for everything you did, everything you gave, and everything you were.

I love you so much.

Sleep tight, Dad

Love you always, Tina xxxxx

Grandad,

Thank you for always believing in me.

From moving to Liverpool for university to building my career and life, you never stopped supporting me, encouraging me, and taking an interest in everything I did. Knowing how proud you were of me meant more than you’ll ever know.

Thank you for your love, your guidance, and the memories I’ll treasure forever.

I am so proud to be your granddaughter.

Love you always,

Nicole xxxx
