JoanLAW, of Lancaster Street, Oswaldtwistle, died on Monday, September 30, at Royal Blackburn Hospital, aged 83. Joan worked at the Sew & Sew weaving mill in Oswaldtwistle both on the factory floor and as a bookkeeper. After having her children she also had part time jobs at Moor End Primary School looking after the children, Hargreaves House as an assistant cook, and at Lancashire County Council as a home help before taking early retirement. She was a member of Stanhill Methodist Church, James Street Club, Oswaldtwistle Conservative Club and Audley working men's club. Joan loved singing, ballroom dancing, watching musicals, poetry and knitting. She also enjoyed many family holidays and Mediterranean cruises with her husband Bill to whom she was happily married for 62 years. Dearly loved wife of Bill, she was mother to Cheryl, mother-in-law of Marcus, sister-in-law of Neil and mother to the late Graham. A funeral service took place at 1pm on Friday, October 11 at Accrington Crematorium, administered by Rev Rick Ormrod. Funeral director Oswaldtwistle Funeral Services.
