TomKRUGEIt is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Abraham Ambrose Thomas Kruge, known to his family and friends as Tom, who passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday 20th August 2025 at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro aged 84 years.

Tom was the devoted husband of Rita and a proud father to his three sons; David and partner Alison, Michael, Phil and his wife Della.

His greatest joy in later life was being a grandfather and he leaves behind six much loved grandchildren; Ethan, Molly, Ryan, Jack, Connor and Alisha who will miss their grandad dearly.

Tom made Penzance his home more than 40 years ago. Over the decades, he became a cherished member of the local community, known for his kindness, warmth and sense of humour.

Tom was also a proud member of the Masons and the Buffs and formed many valued friendships there. To his friends, he was a loyal companion, to his family, a guiding hand and a source of endless love and support.

Tom's presence enriched the lives of all who knew him and his memory will live on through the countless moments of laughter, wisdom and care that he shared. He will be deeply missed but forever remembered with love.

Grandad, you exemplified courage,
Love without reservation,
And giving without expectation.
You live on through us
In our affection, our memories,
And the wisdom you passed down.

You could be firm at times,
But I now understand It came from a place of love.
I am sorry for any words said in the heat of the moment.
You'll be deeply missed, and you will not be forgotten—that's for sure.

With all my love
Connor

That was the man you were
Always listening, always guiding,
Always ready to lift us when we needed it most.

I'll miss playing draughts with you,
Even though you'd always win.
Just sitting across from you,
Sharing those irreplaceable, unforgettable moments.
You were always happy to tell your stories
Of the places you'd been and the journeys you'd taken,
Filing the room with the wonders of your world.

You were a true fighter
Through illness, hardship, and every obstacle life placed in your path.
The body can endure much, yet the body is a fragile vessel.
Still, you faced trials, adversity, and pain
With grace, dignity, humility, and devotion.
Even amid challenges, you discovered joy, happiness,
And the beauty of family.

You were always willing to help in any way you could
Whether assisting my dad with the business
Or lending a hand around the house.
You were constantly engaged, always seeking purpose,
Never one to sit around and do nothing.
You always had to be doing something.
You were a hard worker through and through.

If there's one lesson your life and passing teach, it is this:
Life is short—far shorter than we imagine.
For tomorrow is never guaranteed, and each day is precious, so:

Make your life mean something.
Take that leap of faith.
Break through every barrier—reach beyond
What you ever believed was humanly possible.
Take what you want from life and live to your fullest capability.
Chase your dreams. Follow your passions.
Face life's challenges head-on.
Do not let fear or hesitation hold you back.
Pause, reflect, and embrace the journey.
Make every moment count, for time will not wait.
Love with everything you have. Give without limit. Be fully present in each day.
Stand for something. Leave a mark of hope and love.
For love is the greatest force we carry.
Treasure each day as a chance to make a difference.
So, cherish every moment.

Nothing has broken me quite like this.
Losing you, grandad, feels like losing a part of myself.

Your smile brought a sense of pure joy,
And your love touched everyone fortunate enough to know you.
You were always the voice of reason
Steady, humble, and grounded.

It tears me to pieces knowing I'll never see your face again.
The world feels emptier without you in it.

You were a remarkable father,
Whose love wove the very fabric of our lives.
A devoted husband, whose heart and commitment never wavered.
A brother who always sought to do right,
Striving to be the finest version of himself,
Setting an example in every small and meaningful way.

A magnificent Grandad, whose laughter, wisdom, and presence
Left an incredible mark on all of us.
A mentor, whose guidance and friendship
Meant more than words could ever capture.

I couldn't have wished for anyone better.
You were down-to-earth, kind, and true.
A true blessing in every sense of the word.
I can't help but feel robbed, frustrated by life's cruel complications,
By how sudden, how brief, life can truly be.

Thank you for pushing me when I doubted myself,
For guiding me when I lost my way,
And for always wanting the best for me.
I'll always be thankful for you.
And your love will forever live in the deepest corners of my heart.

I'll never forget one terrifying day,
When our roof was torn away by a violent storm.
I stayed with you and Nan.
You provided me and my siblings with a safe haven,
A sanctuary of endless love and grounding gravity,
A reminder that love can shelter us,
Even when it felt as though the world itself was falling apart.

I remember one evening, while staying there,
You came to my room and said, You can always talk to me about anything, no matter how big or small.
Whether it's about your day or what's on your mind.
Or just to stop for a little chit chat now and then.
If you need me, I'll just be downstairs.
