Nothing has broken me quite like this.
Losing you, grandad, feels like losing a part of myself.
Your smile brought a sense of pure joy,
And your love touched everyone fortunate enough to know you.
You were always the voice of reason
Steady, humble, and grounded.
It tears me to pieces knowing I'll never see your face again.
The world feels emptier without you in it.
You were a remarkable father,
Whose love wove the very fabric of our lives.
A devoted husband, whose heart and commitment never wavered.
A brother who always sought to do right,
Striving to be the finest version of himself,
Setting an example in every small and meaningful way.
A magnificent Grandad, whose laughter, wisdom, and presence
Left an incredible mark on all of us.
A mentor, whose guidance and friendship
Meant more than words could ever capture.
I couldn't have wished for anyone better.
You were down-to-earth, kind, and true.
A true blessing in every sense of the word.
I can't help but feel robbed, frustrated by life's cruel complications,
By how sudden, how brief, life can truly be.
Thank you for pushing me when I doubted myself,
For guiding me when I lost my way,
And for always wanting the best for me.
I'll always be thankful for you.
And your love will forever live in the deepest corners of my heart.
I'll never forget one terrifying day,
When our roof was torn away by a violent storm.
I stayed with you and Nan.
You provided me and my siblings with a safe haven,
A sanctuary of endless love and grounding gravity,
A reminder that love can shelter us,
Even when it felt as though the world itself was falling apart.
I remember one evening, while staying there,
You came to my room and said, You can always talk to me about anything, no matter how big or small.
Whether it's about your day or what's on your mind.
Or just to stop for a little chit chat now and then.
If you need me, I'll just be downstairs.
