Joseph (Joe)KEMPof Meeting House Close, East Leake, Loughborough passed away on March 25, aged 77 years. Joe was born and raised in Accrington. He studied at St Mary’s Junior School, Oswaldtwistle followed by St Mary’s College, Blackburn; before going on to Leeds University where he gained a First Class Honours degree in Latin and English. He then studied and qualified as a solicitor taking up employment with Brighouse Wolff Solicitors in Ormskirk, where he later became a partner and remained for over 30 years up until his retirement. Joe was an avid reader, he also enjoyed watching football, in particular he followed Blackburn Rovers and Accrington Stanley. Joe was also a keen card and scrabble player. He also loved 60s music and country/western. Joe was the devoted husband of Anne for almost 55 years. He was a wonderful father to Stephen (deceased), Cathy, Martin, Matthew and Alex. A dear brother of Denis and loving grandad to Olivia, Phoebe, Tilly and Joe. He was also a dear friend to all who knew him. Rest in Peace Joe, ‘A Good Man’. A requiem mass will be held on Thursday, April 13 at 11.30am at St Mary’s R/C Church, Oswaldtwistle, Accrington, conducted by FR Sean O’Brien. At 1pm there will be a burial at Great Harwood Cemetery.
