DavidKEELEYMr David Walter Keeley, of Burns Avenue, Oswaldtwistle, died on Sunday, April 10, aged 79. David worked for Lucas in Burnley, and after he retired he took up another position with ELTEC (Lancashire County Council) as Health and Safety Manager. He played for Accrington Stanley in the 1960s, as did his dad Walter Keeley before him. He was also, before his passing, the Chair of Trustees at Accrington Stanley Community Trust. David was a keen member of Great Harwood Golf Club, and played for Whinney Hill Football Club, in his later years acting as treasurer for the club. He was a magistrate (JP) for many years, did work with the Samaritans, and was involved with the Rotary Club. He was also a keen cricketer, and played for Lowerhouse CC and Baxenden CC. David worked and was part of the Police Commission, and also held his bus/coach licence, driving part-time for many of the coach firms that used to run in Accrington. He leaves wife of over 30 years, Winifred ‘Pat’ Patricia Keeley, children Michelle Keeley, Maxine Keeley, and David Keeley, grandchildren Grace Wilson and step-grandson Scott, brother Roger Keeley and his wife Joan Keeley and son Mark Sandiford, nieces Janet Trelawny and Angela Foxall, stepdaughters Andrea and Elizabeth, and children-in-law Russell, Shaun, Nikki, and Marc. The funeral will be held on Tuesday, April 26, at 11am at Accrington Crematorium, led by Neil Overton, with wake afterwards at the Accrington Stanley Football Club, 1968 Suite.
