Diogo JOTAhas tragically died at the age of 28 following a road traffic accident, according to a local report in Spain.

Marca say that the Liverpool forward passed away following an accident in Zamora, Spain, on Thursday morning. The news comes just days after the Portugal international got married to his long-term girlfriend Rute Cardoso. Sadly, Diogo's brother, footballer Andre Silva also died in the accident.

Starting his career in his home country, Portugal, Diogo joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017. His efforts saw Wolverhampton Wanderers gain promotion to the Premier League, and he joined Liverpool in 2020. Diogo also represented his country.

Our thoughts are with Diogo's family, friends and many fans at this sad time. We invite you to pay tribute to Diogo below.

My name is Sharon Lewis, I last saw Diogo Jota on the bus at the Liverpool Premier League Trophy parade. He was so happy that day smiling, laughing with his team mates this is an absolute tragedy. I send my heartfelt love to his beautiful wife and children and also to his parents as they have lost two sons in this tragedy.
RIP Jots YNWA
