RobertJONESMr Robert Pearson Jones, a retired painter and decorator, and lifelong Accrington Stanley fan, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 16, a week before his 86th birthday. A loving husband to the late Mavis, amazing father to Nigel and Gareth, father-in-law to Sandra, Cathi and Lesley, grandfather to Leonie, Lucy, Reece and Maeve, step-grandfather to Sophie and Abigayle, great-grandfather to Gracie, Eva, Marlowe, George and special loving friend to Theresa. Robert was the late son of Ernest and Helen, and leaves his late sister Doreen. Robert travelled to Canada in 1956 before returning in 1962 and meeting Mavis and setting up the family home in Accrington. As well as a decorator, he also worked at British Gas and Mafco Car Components before retiring. Robert was an avid football fan, but liked nothing more than spending quality time with the family, and his daily trips out with Theresa. A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 4 at 11.30am at the Stanhill Methodist Church, followed by a burial service at Accrington Cemetery at 1pm. Family flowers only, but donations gratefully received in memory of Robert Jones to the British Heart Foundation, c/o funeral director Hyndburn Funeral Services, Accrington.
