Peter TerenceJOHNSONIt is with great sadness that we as a family need to share the news of Peter's passing.

Peter Johnson, of Manchester Street, Derby, passed away suddenly on Friday 8th May 2026, aged 59 years.

A treasured and much-loved dad to Monica, son to Margaret and brother to Belinda and her husband Colin.

He was also very loved by all his family and friends, including his colleagues at Derwent Lodge.

In recent years, Peter had found comfort in his spiritual beliefs and was welcomed to Derby City Church. It is here where Peter's life will be remembered.

Peter's funeral, and a celebration of his life, will be held on Friday 12th June 2026.

You are welcome to attend as follows:

Funeral: Derby City Church at 12 midday service (7 Curzon St, Derby DE1 1LH)

A short Crematorium service at 1.30pm (Markeaton Crematorium, Markeaton Ln, Derby DE22 4NH).

If Peter ever touched your life, past or present, or if you want to be there to support his family and friends, you will be welcomed with open arms to join us at:

Little Darley in the Park from 2.30pm until 11pm - Children welcome until 9pm (Darley Street, Darley Abbey, Derby, DE22 1DX). If you cannot make the funeral services, you may join us later at Little Darley.

Family flowers only please.

Donations, in memory of Peter, will go to his workplace 'Derwent Lodge', and to the 'Thrivemind Village' in Derby (a donation box will be provided at all venues).

Both of these are non-profit organisations. For more information:

Sending my condolences to Peter's loved ones. I knew Peter in the mid eighties, before Stafford College and afterwards. I always think of him when I drive past the end of his road in Burntwood. I have many happy memories of seeing him play in Acoustic Shock, and going to local gigs together. I am forever grateful to him for getting me to the Jesus and Mary Chain gig in Birmingham. Peter was a lovely person, I had no idea he was only down the road in Derby. Rest in Peace, Peter, far too soon x

Farewell Pete. When you and David Moody first called to my house to go out, clad in double denim, my mother told me worriedly "There's two 'bovver boys' to see you!" But you & Dave were the gentlest of giants and your heights meant we could get into pubs whilst still under age! I remember well the long walks down dark country lanes to the Nelson Inn before you passed your driving test. Our long drives with Dave to far off towns to track down obscure second-hand vinyl record shops in order to procure yet more Police rarities were fantastic times. Your dry wit, your infectious laugh and superb bass guitar playing saw us through those years. Sorry for all the books I borrowed from your immaculately kept paperback collection which I invariably returned with creased spines, and thank you for continuing to allow to lend them. What a privilege to have known you. God bless x
