Many people touch our lives, only a few make a difference,John was one of those few. Selfless, kind, caring and a beautiful soul. He was a wonderful husband, father and Grand Dad. Moving to Sidmouth was John’s ‘Paradise’. Fond memories will stay with us,
he will be missed by many. Sister in law Jill

I first met John several years Ago as Manager of William Hill's Bookmaker's. What A great Guy, John had time for everyone and we all thought the world of him in the Shop. As John's health started to detiorate we all went the extra mile Staff and Customers to help John.

Not because we had too, Not because we Felt Sorry for Him, But because he meant so much to us all.

The last time I saw John was Grand National Day. He said I had to make the effort for Grand National Simon.

We slowly walked to his Mobility Scooter and John sat down. John said I don't know when you'll see me again, it won't be for a while. It was at that moment my eyes swelled up, I never told John but I think he knew how much we all thought of him, all the staff and all our fantastic customers thought the world of John.

Goodbyes are never Easy but if there's horse racing in Heaven I hope you back a few winner's, because you where a winner as well Mate.

Love
Simon, Tony, Candice, Corinne and Marcus

Wow, John!

I’ve always respected you immensely since we first met in 1972, when you threatened to beat me up if ever I upset your sister-in-law, whom I was dating. And that respect evolved into a wonderful friendship which has merely grown stronger and stronger over the years.

How the guy who had to take Ill-health Retirement from the GEC, when in his 40’s, made it to the age of 87 speaks volumes for your personality, determination and inner strength. As does your giving up your beloved garden shed in Copsewood Terrace for the beautiful Prom at Sidmouth. Well done, Anne!

John, I could go on forever about our crazy, laughter-filled chats across the Ocean in the last few years, but suffice it to say I wouldn’t be the same without them. You gave me the fortitude to carry on, re-living our memories together, determined to make it to your age and be as happy as you were. I trust my beers will continue to have the same therapeutic effect on me as did your Scotch on you.

Gonna miss you, buddy! Luv ya!

John, you have remained my friend for over 60 years as you were part of our family. I enjoyed our chats, the humour, and family updates. So pleased that you moved to Sidmouth and you were able to enjoy the benefits of living by the sea which brought you so much pleasure. Rest in peace now.
