BrendaHUNTPeacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, March 3, Brenda, aged 88, of Church, Accrington. The devoted wife of the late Brian, much loved and loving mum of Susan, Jacqueline, Andrew and Adrienne, dear mother-in-law of Dale, Eve and Con, cherished grandma of Graeme, Chris, Jordan and Layla, adored great-grandma, and a respected relative and friend to many. Born in Burnley, Brenda made the move to Accrington following the marriage to her beloved husband Brian. From the age of 11, she was a member of The Girls Life Brigade, both in Burnley and Accrington following her move. She gave much of her spare time serving as secretary, commissioner and captain of companies at Oak Street Congregational and Woodnook Baptist Church where she remained a member until its closure. Following her move to Church, Brenda became a member of Antley Street Methodist. In her younger years, Brenda attended many keep fit classes, and in later years she became a keen line dancer at Platt social club where she was a member. Her working life was spent in secretarial work including working as a doctor’s receptionist, and later as a ward clerk at Accrington maternity unit until her retirement. Wherever Brenda worked she kept the office in top shape with her amazing organisational skills and was always a well respected member of staff, making many friends along the way. The funeral will be held on Thursday, March 17 at 11.40am at Accrington Crematorium. Family flowers only please; donations can be made to British Heart Foundation via funeral director Champ Funeral Services, Clayton-le-Moors.
