ChristineHOLLANDA much loved mum, grandma, sister, and special friend to many, Chris Holland, of Warmden Avenue, Baxenden, passed away peacefully on Mothering Sunday, March 27, at East Lancashire Hospice, aged 64. Chris was born in Whalley and was a pupil at Hyndburn Park Primary and Hollins High School. She spent many years working in the banks and building societies of Accrington, where she made many friendships with both staff and customers alike. Later she found her passion working in primary schools, in particular as a learning mentor at Whalley School, where she supported many children and families in her role over the years. A familiar face in Hyndburn and the Ribble Valley, Chris couldn’t go anywhere without having to stop for a chat, or to say hello to someone she knew. Chris loved nothing more than to be outside in her wellies, whether that be walking her dogs, or spending time in the garden getting muddy with her grandchildren. Her house was always open, and a place of solace for many. Chris leaves son and daughter Nick and Lauren, brother and sisters Roy, Barbara, and Margaret, and grandchildren Rory, Faye, Esmee, and Florence. A service will be held at St John’s, Baxenden on Monday, April 11, at 1.45pm, led by Rev Amanda Marshall, followed by committal at the Crematorium in Accrington at 3pm. Family flowers only; donations if desired to East Lancs Hospice. Chris’ family would like to extend their thanks to the volunteers and staff at East Lancashire Hospice for their never ending love, care, and support, provided not only to Chris, but all the family as well.
