HughHERDMANMr Hugh Herdman passed away peacefully at Blackpool Victoria Hospital on Sunday, March 27, aged 86. The devoted husband of Monica, much loved Dad to Marie and Father-in-law to Tom, and cherished Grandad to Daniel and Ellie. Hugh, known as Hughie, came over from Belfast at the age of 14 following in his older brothers’ footsteps to begin a new life in Accrington, where he met the love of his life, Monica, who stayed together for over 70 years. Hughie worked for British Rail until ill-health caused him to retire early shortly after they moved to Cleveleys, favouring the fresh and peaceful life of the seaside. Always together, Hughie and Monica loved nothing more than their grandchildren, taking them on holidays to Jersey and having sleepovers at the seaside. His favourite pastime was to potter in the garden and go for walks along the sea front with his loving wife, Monica. He was the most respectful, kind and gentle man, a loving dad, grandad, brother, uncle and friend to many, and will be sorely missed and forever remembered. The service will be held at Accrington Crematorium on Friday, April 22, at 1.40pm, followed by interment at graveside.
