MargaretHELMOREPassed away peacefully on 15th January 2019, aged 89 years. A much loved and respected Aunt, friend and neighbour who will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Funeral service will take place at St Mary the Virgin Church, Saffron Walden on Thursday 7th February at 11am. Family flowers only please, however donations to Margaret's chosen charities may be sent c/o Peasgood & Skeates, Shire Hill, Saffron Walden, CB11 3AQ.

Jane Balinski ( nee Laffoley)!pupil at WGS 1966-74. I remember being taught RE by her in the first year and when I was in the sixth form she announced in assembly was getting married!

I remember Mrs Helmore taught RE to all 1st year pupils, and by week 2, knew every girl’s name - nearly 100 in each year group. She also continued to teach maths to the 6th form, staying in touch with the classroom. Isabel Kimber (Braybrook) 1969 - 1976

A former pupil myself at Presdales (1977-1984), Mrs Helmore was certainly a firm but very fair Headmistress and she took the time to get to know all her girls.

Mrs Helmore was Headmistress at Presdales when I was there 1972-76. I was always rather frightened of her stern manner but she ran an excellent school and was a very strong leader.
