DorothyGRIMSHAWPassed away peacefully at home aged 91 on Monday, December 4, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Accrington on 12th January 1932, Dorothy attended St Anne’s RC Church and School from age three years and was a lifelong member of St Anne’s Ladies. Dorothy left school aged 14 and trained as a shorthand typist before finding her calling working in the Magistrates Clerk’s Office and as a civilian worker in the CID for Lancashire Constabulary, where she worked until her retirement. Dorothy met and married Frank and together they raised her son Chris. Dorothy loved travelling and she and Frank travelled all over the UK. Together with Frank, Dorothy adored their three grandchildren Claire, Nicola and Christopher and they enjoyed many happy times and holidays together to Southport and around the country. Dorothy, along with her late husband Frank, leaves behind her son Chris, Grandchildren Claire, Nicola and Christopher. She also leaves behind Jack and her great grandchildren Scarlett, Louis, Olivia, Jacob and Nate as well as her daughter-in-law Heather and many close nieces, nephews and dear friends.
Dorothy’s Requiem Mass will be held at St Anne’s RC Church in Accrington on Thursday, December 14 at 9.45am followed by committal at Accrington Crematorium at 11am.
All will be welcome to come together to celebrate Dorothy’s life at Peel Park Hotel in Accrington from 11.30am onwards.
