Some of the things we’ll remember Charlie for are his quiet but strong way; his independent spirit; his enthusiasm for all things Sport; his love and knowledge of dogs; and his annual contribution to family Christmas dinners - a full-sized salmon decorated with prawns. We’ll miss him - Charles & Miriam

I'm normally quite good with words, but this time they failed me, I've been awake at night trying to think of what to say, last year my sister-in-law and my sister died, my brother-in-law John died three years ago and now my brother-in-law Charlie, they were both exceptional exceptional men. I met them when I was 16 and 18 - when Becki and Mark got married in 2014 they both included my sister and they came over for the wedding. I had good memories of it and also all our trips back to the UK. It's not easy when you're 4000 miles away.

Uncle Charlie - we didn’t see you much over these last few years but could always count on seeing you at the Remembrance on The Hoe. You always have me the biggest bear hug in the world. It was a lovely big hug. So tight and snug. Won’t be the same on The Hoe next year without you. Say hi to Aunty Elizabeth, nana and grandpa x
