LauriGRANTLauri Grant (née Florence Elizabeth Appleyard), who died peacefully at Chamberlain Court nursing home on Monday the 26th of June, was a devoted and loving wife and mother. A long-time resident of Tunbridge Wells, and well-known and loved thereabouts (along with her late husband, Lionel), Lauri always had a fascinating story or two to tell from her past: about life as a playful young girl, who loved cycling, in pre-War London (born Camberwell, 1932); the sound of Doodlebug bombs; being evacuated to Boscastle (Cornwall) and picking wildflowers to send home; working as a Harrods 'shop girl' in the glamourous 1950's; corresponding with her future husband for a year before they met at Heathrow Airport, when he returned from working in West Africa; and raising their young family in Canada. Lauri loved Fashion and Interior Design, Arts and Crafts, Cookery, Gardening and Travel but, most of all, Life. Lauri is survived by her four children (Andrew, Clare, Malcolm and Matthew), and two grandchildren (Sophie and Thomas). Lauri's funeral will be held at the Kent and Sussex Cemetery at 11.00 on Friday 21st July.
