MargaretGORDONof Royds Avenue, Accrington, passed away peacefully in Pendle Brook Care Home on Wednesday, January 18, aged 95 years. She worked most of her life for the DHSS (Department of Health and Social Security) at Melbourne House in Accrington and retired at 60. Her main hobby when she retired was as an active member of Oakhill Park Bowling Club where she was treasurer for a time. She was the wife of the late Alfred who passed away 60-years-ago. She leaves two nieces, Kathleen and Barbara, Barbara’s children Thomas and Laura, Thomas’ children Matthew and Hannah. A funeral service and cremation will take place on Monday, February 13 at 1pm at Accrington Crematorium Chapel. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to East Lancashire Hospice, c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington.
