The obituary notice of Mark Richard GAULD

I worked with Mark many years ago at Witney, what a wonderful, fresh character he was. A breath of fresh air and one who will be sorely missed by his family and friends. Such sad news, taken too soon. R.I.P Mark xxx

Mark you were so much more than a coach to many: A friendly face, source of encouragement, someone to keep us going as we moaned about training and most importantly an inspiration to many of us of growing up, not just through the sport of swimming but also supporting to shape who we were as people.

I feel very grateful for what you taught me, you impact will forever stick with me!

I worked with mark for many years and then was fortunate to have him be part of Witney where my daughter swam and she loved chatting with him
I have many fond memories, he was always happy to spend time to have a catch up.
Last time I saw him he was open water swimming in the Thames- he was very passionate about his swimming.

Heartbreaking he isn’t able to continue the adventure I’m sure he had planned with his loved ones.

So very shocked to hear of your sudden death, as were the rest of your swim teammates at Witney Masters. You were a delight to observe in the water, a truly talented swimmer and a supportive and encouraging teammate at events. You were also an inspiration to the kids you coached at the club. Condolences to your family on such a tragic loss.

Mark was a shining light within Witney and district swimming club as a coach, swimmer and friend. Always having fun on poolside, supporting swimmers and coaches alike. Evening games on swim camps were always hilarious with mark involved. A true supportive friend who was a pleasure to know and have as part of our team
