BarbaraFAINAOn March 8, Barbara Faina passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family, aged 86. The dearly loved wife of the late Gino and dear mum to Paul also a much loved grandma and great grandma to Daniel, Louise, Francesca, Sienna, Dara, Cillian and Zachary. Barbara was born in Farnswoth near Bolton in 1936 before settling in Accrington after her dad was transferred to work at Howard and Bullough. When Barbara left school at 15 she began her working life learning the art of dress making for a local tailoress in Accrington and her appearance was something that she always took pride in throughout her life, always smartly dressed and on trend. After some time Barbara began working at Mullards in Blackburn and then later at Mastarbar on the production line producing mining equipment. Barbara saw out her working life working as a welfare assistant at Rhydding’s High School, a job which she really loved and made many special friends. Barbara loved gardening and spent many hours pottering around outside growing and planting some beautiful flowers which cheered the whole place up, even on the dullest of Days. Barbara loved animals, in particular dogs and had many throughout her life, she was a keen knitter and took pride in knitting for all her grandchildren over the years. She enjoyed singing and in her younger years ballroom dancing which is where she met her husband Gino, who was a tailor from Italy - the rest as they say is history. Barbara enjoyed her many holidays away and was an excellent cook and baker, she loved to entertain and her family was her pride and joy. Barbara enjoyed nothing more than being involved with her family and spending time with her great-grandchildren reading, baking, singing, dancing, walking and going to the annual Christmas panto in Manchester. She was popular and a good friend to many.Barbara loved socialising and being in company. A caring, beautiful and loving lady, she will be remembered for her deep devotion to her family and her joy of their times shared. Barbara’s requiem mass will be held at St Mary’s RC Church, Oswaldtwistle on March 29 at 10am, followed by a burial at Dill Hall Cemetery, together again at last with Gino. Family flowers only please. Barbara has requested any donations be made to Cancer Research UK c/o Hyndburn Funeral Services, Queens Road, Accrington. All enquiries tel. 01254 233133.
