Dave - you were not a good father-in-law; you were a great father-in-law. I couldn't have wished for better. Strong, supportive, knowledgeable, proud of your daughter. During our time together I really enjoyed your company, just sitting and chatting about anything and everything under the sun.
And you taught me more about cooking than anyone before or since. People around me today have you to thank for that!. You influenced my life in my thirties and forties so that I, like many people you knew, became more than we might have been otherwise.
This is what life is about.
We live, we die. What matters most is the difference we make during our time here.
And you made a difference to me.
